INTERACTIVE ASTERODENSITY LAB

PhotoRing Effect Simulator

This app lets you explore the PhotoRing effect, introduced in the paper A Novel Method for Identifying Exoplanetary Rings by J.I. Zuluaga, D. Kipping, M. Sucerquia and J. Alvarado-Montes (2015) and developed further in the paper Probing Exoplanetary Rings with Asterodensity Profiling: A PhotoRing Analysis of Kepler-51 by J.I. Zuluaga, S. Numpaque, D. Kipping and J.A. Alvarado-Montes (2026). The effect occurs when rings change the transit silhouette and duration, making the inferred stellar density differ from its true value. Change the System Parameters values and observe how the PR anomaly changes. Want to know how PR is calculated? See this document.
